In addition to providing general pediatric services, Akai Pediatrics concentrates on a few specific areas of interest. When your child faces medical issues, whether physical or emotional, it’s important to take them to a medical home where they feel comfortable and safe.
We see children through 21 years of age. Our teenage and young adult patients feel quite comfortable with us. We offer assistance for those facing issues such as sexually transmitted infections and substance abuse as well as emotional, academic, and behavioral problems.
We Concentrate in Behavioral Health Including
ADHD
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder can result in issues at school or home. When a child has ADHD, it can be very difficult for them to focus and do schoolwork or interact with teachers and fellow students.
Anxiety
Children can face a wide range of anxiety issues. These can range from generalized anxiety and panic attacks to separation and social anxiety.
Depression
If your child seems sad or irritable for most of the day, or prefers social isolation, there’s a good chance they may be suffering from depression
Mood Disorders
Depression is one of the most common mood disorders encountered in general pediatric practices. Other mood disorders are screened for in our medical home via CHADIS and when identified, our families are assisted in accessing mental health specialists through our carefully created referral pathways

Weight Problems & Obesity
Akai Pediatrics provides a comfortable, friendly environment for the discussion and management of obesity and weight issues.
